Environmentally friendly Air Gas Liquid Energy (EAGLETM) recovery device
Independent Natural Resources, Inc. has acquired the rights and patented an apparatus and method for extracting potential energy that exists in the form of excess pressure within the natural gas distribution pipeline system. EAGLETM technology has the potential to recover millions of dollars in the value of electrical energy currently being lost in America’s 180,000 miles of natural gas pipeline.
Currently valves are being used to step down excess pressure throughout the natural gas distribution system so that it can be used for commercial and industrial purposes. Energy is being lost through this current method of depressurization in the form of waste heat or friction. The EAGLETM device extracts energy through a cupped belt apparatus which utilizes the natural and powerful lift properties of air rising in water. Installed in place of current valve systems the EAGLETM device can dissipate excess pressure as well as recover a significant amount of the energy being lost.
INRI® is currently developing pre-commercial prototypes incorporating various design improvements and plans to conduct field testing in 2008-09.
